Cloning is prohibited by the additional protocol to the convention for the protection of human rights and dignity of human being with regard to the application of biology and medicine, on the prohibition of cloning of human beings (2002).

Embryo donation and cryopreservation Two opinions presented by the National Bioethics Committee of Cyprus (CNBC): it is prohibited the creation of supernumerary embryos and HER using surplus IVF embryos is allowed if adequate protection of the embryos is ensured.
