New Publication Announcement: "A Standardized Nomenclature Design for Systematic Referencing and Identification of Animal Cellular Material”
Posted on May 30, 2024
We are pleased to announce the publication of a new article, entitled "A Standardized Nomenclature Design for Systematic Referencing and Identification of Animal Cellular Material". This paper introduces the first standardized, human-readable nomenclature system that ensures the generation of unique and stable identifying names for animal cellular material, with a particular focus on wildlife species. T he proposed nomenclature system features a species-specific, human- and machine-readable syntax. This design not only facilitates the traceability of donated material and cultured cells but also promotes the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) principles for data management and sharing. The adoption of this standard naming scheme will enable researchers and institutions to significantly enhance the accuracy and efficiency of their biological material tracking and data integration efforts.
At hPSCreg, we are promoting the use of standardised nomenclatures for human pluripotent stem cells. We are pleased to extend our support to this new standardised nomenclature for animal cellular material. This initiative aligns with our commitment to advancing the scientific community's ability to systematically reference and identify cellular materials, thereby fostering greater collaboration and innovation.
