Does consent pertain to a specific research project? | Yes |
Details on restriction to research project | In this study, we propose to generate induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines from peripheral blood cells of patients with a confirmed diagnosis of congenital hypopituitarism using novel cellular reprogramming techniques. We will then differentiate these cells into pituitary cells in culture. This approach will allow us to gain an in-depth understanding of the behavior of the affected genes and/or specific variants identified in each case, enabling us to provide appropriate genetic counseling and improve the diagnosis of future patients. |

General |
|
Source cell line name | Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells |
Source cell type |
An immature, nucleated erythrocyte occupying the stage of erythropoiesis that follows formation of erythroid progenitor cells and precedes formation of reticulocytes.
Synonyms
|
Source cell origin |
A liquid tissue; its major function is to transport oxygen throughout the body. It also supplies the tissues with nutrients, removes waste products, and contains various components of the immune system defending the body against infection. Several hormones also travel in the blood.
