Phenotype and Disease related information (Donor)

Diseases A disease was diagnosed.
Neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) is a rare and slowly progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by eosinophilic hyaline intranuclear inclusions in both the nervous system and visceral organs. Patients with NIID present with a range of clinical manifestations, including dementia, abnormal behavior, muscle weakness, cerebellar ataxia, parkinsonism, seizure, and autonomic dysfunction. Patients with NIID characteristically exhibit repeat expansions of GGC nucleotides in the 5' region of the NOTCH2NLC gene. Expansions exceeding 60 repeats are associated with pathogenicity.
The donor is a carrier of a disease-associated mutation and affected.
Synonyms
  • neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease
  • Niid
  • neuronal intranuclear hyaline inclusion disease
Disease associated phenotypes
  • dementia phenotype

Source cell origin
A liquid tissue; its major function is to transport oxygen throughout the body. It also supplies the tissues with nutrients, removes waste products, and contains various components of the immune system defending the body against infection. Several hormones also travel in the blood.
